The iPad has only just started

Having fallen in love with the iPad – well not exactly in love but certainly a lasting infatuation – my mind has turned to the question: “what comes next.”
Business insider provides its view of what it thinks iPad 2 might look like and what it might do.
As you might expect, the iPhone 3GS to iPhone 4 development is taken as the basis for constructing the forecasts.
The two things I am sure will come about will be the upgrading to include a “retina” display, with four times the pixel density of the current iPad and the use of FaceTime video chat service.
This same publication reports one estimate for iPad sales in 2011 at an astonishing 45 million units – that equates to about billion of revenue. Whether on not that is a “finger in the air” forecast we will have to wait and see.
For a difference source (MIT Technology Review) there is the report of the way that touchscreens are likely to develop so that they incorporate ‘texture’ (Electrovibration). This would enable apps to change the texture of parts of the touchscreen, greatly increasing the tactile feedback.
Nobody knows if these improvements to tablet type devices will occur in 2011 or 2012 but occur they will. Remember the combination of apps and tablet technology is at the infancy section of the technology curve – the thing I am using to write this blog is approaching the maturity domain.
All of this means that a technology combination, that is inherently good for older users, is going to get better and better. Can’t be bad, Dick Stroud
