Konop Pledges Ethics and Good Government
Candidate Challenges Others Running in Lucas County to Follow His Example
Toledo, OH - Recognizing that ethics has become the defining issue of
the 2006 elections, Lucas County Commissioner candidate Ben Konop will
take a "Pledge of Ethics and Good Government" and challenge
others running for office in Lucas County to do the same on Thursday,
February 9, 2006, at 10:30 AM in the Commissioner's Chambers on the first
floor of One Government Center in downtown Toledo. Konop will sign the
pledge at the announcement.
Konop, a Visiting Assistant Professor of Law at The University of Toledo
College of Law and a practicing attorney, is proposing a
series of reforms designed to promote the highest ethical standards in all areas of county
governance. The most significant of these initiatives calls for the establishment
of a Lucas County Ethics Commission to supplement the state-level Ohio
Ethics Commission.
Konop is also carrying his message of ethical government to voters with
the release of his new television and radio ad, "Values for Lucas
County." The radio ad is being released on the web on Thursday and
will begin airing on broadcast radio next week. The television
ad will
air for the first time this Sunday, February 12, 2006 during the "Conklin
and Company" public affairs program on WTVG 13 ABC.
