How To Submit A Pasport Application Correctly

Filing a US pasport application is the process to get a document needed when a citizen wants to travel to a place outside of the United States of America. Passports are an important to document that allow citizens to travel in and out of countries with ease. Adults as well as minors need to have their own passport. Minors below the age of sixteen and those of ages sixteen and seventeen have their own special requirements for the application process.

New Passport

The following must apply for this document. One who is getting it for the first time. One who has one that was issued when they were under the age of sixteen. One whose passport has been stolen, is lost or has been damaged. One who has had a it for more than fifteen years, it is only valid for fifteen years. And finally one who has had a name change and they need to get all names in all documentations synchronized.

Citizenship

Proof of citizenship has to be provided on application. It may be a birth certificate, an undamaged passport, a certificate of naturalization, a birth report if one was born abroad and a citizenship certificate. If any of these are questionable, the passport agent may ask for more documentation.

Information

The forms for the application process have to be filled out with all the correct information. One must sign it in the presence of an agent to verify they wrote the information. This proves that the applicant is who they say they are and are not attempting to falsify documents

Pictures

To complete an application there must be two identical, full color photographs measuring two by two inches. In the photo one cannot have any sort of headgear on and has to be in ordinary street wear. It has to be fairly recent, within 6 months. The background of this picture must either be off white or white and should have the full view of the face. The measurement between the top part of the head and the bottom part of the chin has to be more than an inch and not below an inch and three eighths. If one has a medical prescription of eye glasses or a hearing aid they should have them on for the picture.

Passport Agency

To file the pasport renewal application one must present themselves in person not unless filing by mail or online. There is a fee payable for application and an extra amount for those that want the process to be hurried. They have a site where one may check the status of their application.
